The Art of Lady GaGa’s Style: An Observation Guide

Lady GaGa’s creative sense of fashion differs from music video to music video, on stage and off, setting

her apart from the rest of the music industry. Her style is defined by the elements of her character, style,

setting, and the effects of her style.  In most cases, Lady GaGa dresses in a futuristic sense, accentuating her

body with chunky jewelry and tightly- fitted material. An example of her futuristic style is her music video

Paparazzi, in which she wears a dazzling white corset and thin black stilettos. At award ceremonies, she never

dresses herself in a long, formal ball gown but rather a short cocktail dress with bulging high shoes. She defied

critics when she wore a dress and platform shoes composed completely of meat to the 2010 VMA Awards.

In her music videos, she dresses in high fashion and always has a thematic hair style, makeup, and wardrobe

that correlate to her song’s meaning. In her music video Judas, her fashion goes from a chic biker to Mary

Magdalene, suiting to the lyrics as the song progresses.   Thousands of Youtube subscribers post videos that r

replicate her hair and makeup from her music videos.  Her panache style and uniqueness makes Lady GaGa a

bellwether in the fashion industry.
