My new book I started this past week is Dreamland by Sarah Dessen.  The back of the book doesn't reveal much othere than in describes the struggles of teen dating/ relationships.  There are 2 sisters, /Cass and Caitlin, Cass being the eldest.  On her birthday, Caitlin wakes to find her sister missing and finds a not under the coffee maker saying she would be in contact with them soon and to please understand.  The girls' parents are shocked and their mom cries desperatly,  Their close neighbor Boo comes over to here the news and she too is shocked beyond belief.  As little girls, their mother would always tuck them in at night and say, "See you in dreamland."  Caitlin finds a small wrapped box outside her door and it is from Cass. she opens it and finds a small journal, and on the inside of the cover it says, "See you in dreamland."  At this point, the whole family is terrified that she either ran off with her questionable boyfriend who is older than her or committed suicide.  Everyone is confused as to why she chose to run away because she was leaving for college in less than a week.  Why they try to find her and question her motives, Caitling has many flashbacks to whenher and Cass were young children.  In one flashback, they were about four years old playing in the sand box at the park,  She wanted the toy shovel from Cass, so she took it.  When Cass tried to grab it back, she accidently cut here face open and she still has a small scar from it.  Dessen provides these older memories to portray the sense of closeness the sisters have.  The more I read of this book, the more I yearn to understand why people run away.  What is there for one to run away from? Everything that occurs in one's life can't be undid and will always lie in the unconscious.  It seems rather selfish that Cass put all that stress and worry on her family.  I hope she comes back, but I have a feeking she won't....
